SYMPTOMS
When you click (or double-click) an ActiveX control (for example, a text box control) in a Word document that is protected for comments, Word may crash, and an error message similar to the following may appear:
When you click Details (on Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, press ALT+D), you receive the following message:

RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
