XADM: Maximum Number of Databases for Each Storage Group
This article discusses a Beta release of a Microsoft product. The information in this article is provided as-is and is subject to change without notice.
No formal product support is available from Microsoft for this Beta product. For information about obtaining support for a Beta release, please see the documentation included with the Beta product files, or check the Web location from which you downloaded the release.
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
In Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, you can have several Storage Groups, with a maximum of six databases for each Storage Group. When you run the Isinteg utility to check the integrity of the database, it mounts the original database, then constructs a reference database, and attempts to mount the reference database.
If there are already six databases in the storage group, Isinteg cannot mount the reference database. To run Isinteg, you must dismount one of the other five databases that are already mounted.
It is recommended that you limit the number of databases for each storage group to five to enable Isinteg to mount the reference database.
When Isinteg mounts the database, the database becomes unavailable to clients; it is mounted with a special flag.
