IIS Stops Responding at W3SVC!CGIThread

SYMPTOMS

When Internet Information Server (IIS) is running a certain CGI program, IIS may stop responding at W3SVC!CGIThread. The call stack looks similar to the following:

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
