SYMPTOMS
When you create a Routing Group (RG) connector, you may unintentionally create a connector that has the same server configured as both the remote and local bridghead.
CAUSE
This behavior is caused by the feature of Microsoft Management Console (MMC) that allows you to change the properties of an object while property sheets are still open. This functionality can have unintended results.
RESOLUTION
Do not move a server into a new RG while you are creating a new RG connector. Also, make sure that you understand all implications before you decide to move a server into a new routing group.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
