SYMPTOMS
Microsoft Windows 2000 Active Directory displays no more than 15 characters for Exchange 2000 server names, even if your Windows 2000 machine name is longer than 15 characters.

Microsoft Exchange 2000 Setup uses only the NetBios name of the computer for the object CN (Common Name). This value is passed as a 15-character name on to the Active Directory by the operating system.
