Video Problems in Windows 2000 with pcAnywhere 9.0

SYMPTOMS

After you install Symantec pcAnywhere version 9.0 on a computer running Windows 2000, you may have some video problems and receive the following error message:

A video compatibility problem caused pcAnywhere to switch to the "Compatibility" video mode. To re-enable the "Accelerated" video mode, choose Application Options from the Tools menu and reset the video mode on the Host Operation property page.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Start pcAnywhere.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Application Options.
  3. On the Host Operation tab, click Default (Accelerator enabled) in the Video Mode Selection box.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
