XADM: How to Open a Store ITP Window Against a Retail Build of Store.exe
This article discusses a Beta release of a Microsoft product. The information in this article is provided as-is and is subject to change without notice.
No formal product support is available from Microsoft for this Beta product. For information about obtaining support for a Beta release, please see the documentation included with the Beta product files, or check the Web location from which you downloaded the release.
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
To debug complex information store-related issues, it is often helpful for the support professional to use Store ITP (a Windows-based interface for the information store). This is a feature of the Store.exe file, which is only to be used internally within Microsoft.
To enable the Store ITP Window (using a retail version of Store.exe):
- Open the Services snap-in (located in the Administrative Tools group).
- Right-click Microsoft Exchange Information Store, and then click Properties.
- Click the Log On tab, and then click Allow service to interact with desktop.
- Stop and restart the information store.
At a command prompt, run startitp.exe from the \\Exutils\Exes\StartITP network share.
This will write a DebugITP registry value to the following registry key:
You should see a Server ITP window appear within one minute. This registry value does not persist (that is, you must do this every time you want to open an ITP window).
