SYMPTOMS
When you try to access Help on the Certificate Manager tab in the Internet Options dialog box, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This behavior may occur when you upgrade from Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 (SP3) to Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 (SP4) with Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 1 (SP1). This occurs because when you install Internet Explorer 4.01, the Help file (Secauth.hlp) is installed over the Help file that was installed with Windows NT 4.0 SP4. If you install Internet Explorer 5, the Help file is not upgraded because it detects that Windows NT 4.0 SP4 is current.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5 (SP5), and then verify that Internet Explorer 5 is completely installed.
To download Windows NT 4.0 SP5, view the following Microsoft Web site:
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATION
To work around this behavior, reapply Windows NT 4.0 SP4 so that the Help file is updated again.
