SYMPTOMS

When your computer has been idle for an amount of time that is sufficient for it to enter Standby mode, or if you try to use Standby mode, your computer does not enter Standby mode, or returns from Standby mode immediately. You may also receive the following error message:

Your computer cannot hibernate or standby because the standard floppy disk controller cannot enter into low-power state.

If you then click Details, you receive the following message or one that is similar to it:

Device Description: Standard floppy disk controller
Device ID: BIOS\*PNP0700\11
Class: fdc
Driver Provider: (Standard floppy disk controllers)
Driver Date: 11/12/1999

The Susfail.txt log file contains:

The devnode 'standard floppy disk controller' (BIOS\*PNP0700\00) denied the suspend.

CAUSE

This issue can occur when Iomega Ditto Tools are installed on your computer. Ditto Tools installs drivers that prevent you from using Suspend mode.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact Iomega to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue.

To work around this issue, disable all power management features when you are using Ditto Tools.

If Ditto Tools is not installed, the Hsflop.vxd file may be outdated; to replace it:

  1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
  2. On the Device Manager tab, click Floppy disk controllers, and then click Remove.
  3. Click Refresh to redetect the floppy disk controller.
  4. Restart the computer if you are prompted to do so.
