Table rows may have the numeral 1 or a zero (0) to the right of them, and you cannot select or delete these numbers.

For example, a Word table may appear similar to the following.

| Sample Text | Sample Text | Sample Text |1
| Sample Text | Sample Text | Sample Text |1
| Sample Text | Sample Text | Sample Text |1

This problem may occur when you use Microsoft Word 2000 to open a Microsoft Word 6.0 for Windows document or a Microsoft Word for Windows 95 document that was edited in Microsoft Word 97 for Windows.

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

To obtain SR-1/SR-1a, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  3. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  4. Create a new Word document. To do this, click New on the File menu. Then click Blank Document and click OK.
  5. In the new blank document, click Paste on the Edit menu.
  6. On the File menu, click Save. Save your new Word document with a new file name and click OK.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
