SYMPTOMS

When you scan a computer that is running Windows 2000 Release Candidate 2 (RC2) or Release Candidate 3 (RC3), some virus-scanning software may find the Backdoor-BI Trojan virus in the Coadmin.dll file in the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder.

CAUSE

Older signature files for some scanning software may cause this behavior to occur

RESOLUTION

The detection of this virus is false. There is no virus in the Coadmin.dll file. Update your virus-scanning software to the latest version of its signature files to resolve this issue, or contact your virus-scanning software vendor for additional information. Note that many virus-scanning programs allow you to configure a filter not to scan particular files. You may want to configure your virus-scanning software not to scan this file until you obtain newer signature files.

MORE INFORMATION

The Coadmin.dll file is installed when you install the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) service.
