CG5: Putting Computer into Standby Mode Crashes Clip Gallery

SYMPTOMS

When you place your computer into standby mode or it goes into standby mode automatically, if Clip Gallery 5.0 is running, you receive the following error message:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

When you click Details you receive the following error message:

Artgalry caused a general protection fault in module Artgalry.exe

After you receive this error message, you have to restart your computer to be able to start Clip Gallery 5.0 again.

CAUSE

Clip Gallery is unable to determine which program was using it when the computer went into standby mode. This even occurs when Clip Gallery is run in a stand-alone mode.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Clip Gallery version 5.0 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
