File: Sorting Results in Blank Data File Window

Last reviewed: October 26, 1994
Article ID: Q24884

Summary:

In Microsoft File, the data file may appear blank after a sort. This can occur if many blank records are in the data file. If File is performing an alphanumeric sort from A-Z, blank records are sorted to the top of the data file.

To eliminate these blank records, do the following:

  1. Select the blank records by clicking and dragging the mouse down the left column of the data file -- the column that has the record numbers.
  2. Press the DELETE (or BACKSPACE) key.
