MORE INFORMATION

In some situations it may be very helpful to collect information about the hardware and software configuration of your Windows 2000-based computer. This information can be useful in troubleshooting a problem, or it can be used to document your initial configuration and any subsequent hardware or software additions or upgrades.

Windows 2000 includes tools that may be used to obtain an overview of the services, hardware, and programs installed on to a Windows 2000-based computer. These tools include System Information (Msinfo32.exe), and the System tool in Control Panel.

Using Msinfo32.exe, you can export and import Windows 2000 configuration information and create text files.

Text files containing your computer configuration information can be used by other programs such as word processor programs, database programs, or spread sheet programs.
