When you enter a date in the Criteria pane of your query, you receive an error message similar to the following

Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression '(Table Name.Fieldname=ts '100-11-16 00:00:00'})'.

where Table Name is the name of the table and Fieldname is the name of the field that you are querying.

This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • You enter a date value that does not include the year.

  • The current date setting on your computer is later than December 31, 1999.

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

To obtain SR-1/SR-1a, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

To temporarily work around this problem, always specify the year portion of the date when your system clock is set to a date later than December 31, 1999.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
