SYMPTOMS
Wldap32 clients may be unable to set or obtain attribute names that are longer than 40 characters.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because there is a hard-coded 40-character limit for attribute names in Wldap32 included in Windows NT 4.0.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0.
