NetMeeting in Sleep Mode Does Not Release the Camera

SYMPTOMS

When you put NetMeeting into sleep mode on a computer running Microsoft Windows 2000, it locks the Camera. If you try to use other programs that need to access the Camera, you receive an error message.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows 2000.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

On a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer:

  1. Start NetMeeting.
  2. Quit NetMeeting.


NOTE: NetMeeting will return in sleep mode.

  1. Open another program that uses the Camera.


An error message appears, stating that it cannot allocate the Camera.

If you use Task Manager to close NetMeeting, the Camera will be available to other programs. Additional query words:
