SYMPTOMS
When you start the Disk Management snap-in (from Computer Management or by using Diskmgmt.msc), you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the computer is in a workgroup and the Administrator account or the account that you are logged on with has been renamed.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, log off the computer, and then log back on.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATION
This problem occurs only if the computer is part of a workgroup and you restart the Disk Management snap-in before logging off after you rename the user account that you are logged on with.
