Cannot Locate Modem Script Files with .inf Extension, Only .scp Files Listed

Article ID: 247209

Article Last Modified on 11/1/2006

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Edition

This article was previously published under Q247209

SYMPTOMS

When you want to locate and edit a modem .inf script file, which runs when you connect to a non-Microsoft-based server, you are not able to find the file. Both the Browse Dial-Up Scripts dialog box and the Files Of Type box list only script files that have an .scp file name extension. This occurs on a computer running Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because .scp is the new standard file name extension for a script file.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue:

  1. In the Modem Configuration dialog box, click to select the Run Script check box under Initialization.
  2. Click the .inf file you want to edit.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
