SYMPTOMS

After you edit the value of the DisabledExtensions key in the system registry, you see the following error message when you use the Text Import Wizard to import data:

MSACCESS caused and invalid page fault in module MSACCESS.EXE

CAUSE

You have Microsoft Jet 3.5 Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed, and the DisabledExtensions key value is more than 31 characters long.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Shorten the DisabledExtensions registry key value to 31 characters or fewer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Jet 3.5 Service Pack 3.
