You can enroll for a Digital Signature Standards (DSS) certificate by using the Certification Authority Web page (http://localhost/certsrv) with certain versions of Windows and Microsoft Internet Explorer. If DSS is not supported, you cannot create a DSS certificate.

The following table lists Windows and Internet Explorer versions and their compatibility, including supported cryptographic service providers (CSPs).

Versions Compatibility
Windows 95 and Internet Explorer 4.0 Not supported
Windows 98 and Internet Explorer 4.0 Not supported
Windows 98 and Internet Explorer 5.0 All DSS CSPs
Windows NT 4.0 SP3 and Internet Explorer 4.0 Not supported
Windows NT 4.0 SP4 and Internet Explorer 4.0 DSS/Diffie-Hellman CSP only
Windows NT 4.0 SP<x> and Internet Explorer 5 DSS/Diffie-Hellman CSP only
Windows 2000 All DSS CSPs
