NOTE: The procedures in this article only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. With this option, you can use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, click About Microsoft Outlook on the Help menu. If you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation, you see "Corporate or Workgroup".
Microsoft does not supply a Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) service to allow Outlook in Corporate/Workgroup mode, to access e-mail on an Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP4) Internet mail server. This article describes a third-party solution which will provide this functionality.
IMAP MAPI Service Provider is a MAPI service for IMAP4 connectivity, available from Syntegra (USA) Inc. The following information is from the Syntegra Web site:
IMAPSP enables IMAP server mail folder access with Microsoft(R) Windows clients. Also included is a MAPI SMTP Transport Provider to facilitate "sending" e-mail messages, and an Exchange Client Extension (ISTORX) to add commands and dialogs to the client interface.
