MSN Program Viewer Favorites List Displays Names Incorrectly

Last reviewed: October 24, 1997
Article ID: Q175630

The information in this article applies to:

  • The Microsoft Network, versions 2.0, 2.5

SYMPTOMS

The names of your saved favorite Web pages may be displayed incorrectly in the MSN, The Microsoft Network, Program Viewer favorites list. The names are displayed correctly in all other locations, including the folder in which the links are saved and the Favorites menu in Microsoft Internet Explorer.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you add a Web page with a name that includes an ampersand (&). If this character is used, the name of the Web page is displayed in the Program Viewer favorites list with an underscore under the character following the ampersand, but the ampersand itself is not displayed.

For example, if you add a Web page named "Computers & Software" to your favorites, the name is displayed in the Program Viewer favorites list as "Computers _Software."

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in The Microsoft Network versions 2.0 and 2.5. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Although the names may not be displayed correctly, the links function properly in Program Viewer and open the appropriate Web pages.
