When you check spelling in the Microsoft FrontPage Explorer or Editor, you may receive one of the following error messages:

Found an Error in spelling files.

FrontPage cannot find the spelling file <drive>:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof\Mssp232.dll

where "<drive>" is your hard disk drive letter.

To work around this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Rename the following two files:

    Mssp232.dll Mssp2_en.lex

    to the following:

    Mssp232.old Mssp2_en.old

  2. Remove Microsoft FrontPage using the following steps:
    1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
    2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
    3. In the list of installed programs, select Microsoft FrontPage, and then click Add/Remove.
    4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. Reinstall Microsoft FrontPage using the following steps:
    1. On the Windows Start menu, click Run.
    2. Click Browse.
    3. In the Browse dialog box, select the CD-ROM drive that contains the FrontPage compact disc.
    4. Double-click the Setup.exe file to start the Setup program.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
