When you print a publication that contains rotated metafile graphics and/or rotated WordArt images to an Hewlett-Packard DeskJet or Hewlett-Packard DeskWriter printer, colors and/or colored text may be dropped. This problem occurs with the following graphics formats:

  • WordArt
  • Computer Graphics Metafile (CGM)
  • Windows Enhanced Metafile (EMF)
  • Windows Metafile (WMF)
  • Word Perfect Graphics (WPG)

Convert the image or WordArt object to a bitmap graphic format and then import it into your Publisher file, using the following steps:

  1. Select the graphic.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Cut.
  3. Start Microsoft Paint. (On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Paint.)
  4. On the Image menu, click Attributes.
  5. In the Width and Height boxes, enter 1. Click OK.
  6. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  7. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
  8. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  9. Switch to Publisher.
  10. On the Edit menu, click Paste.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
