MSN Setup Program Installs Some Files to the Progra~1 Folder

The information in this article applies to:

  • The Microsoft Network, versions 2.0, 2.5

SYMPTOMS

When you install MSN, The Microsoft Network, the Setup program may copy some files to the Progra~1 folder.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you have both a Progra~1 folder and a Program Files folder on the hard disk. If this is the case, the MSN Setup program installs controls and optional components to the Progra~1\OnMSN\OCX folder instead of the Program Files\OnMSN\OCX folder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in The Microsoft Network versions 2.0 and 2.5. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
