SUMMARY

Running Microsoft Exchange version 4.0 or 5.0 or Microsoft Outlook for Macintosh version 8.0 clients on Apple Macintosh OS 8.0 has not been tested and may not run as expected. Changes made in the operating system are not fully supported by these clients. Support for Macintosh OS 8.0 is being considered for future releases of Microsoft Outlook.

MORE INFORMATION

For the current known issues with Microsoft Exchange and Mac OS 8.0, see the following article(s) in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Q173124 XCLN: Exchange Macintosh Client Hangs When Using Shif+F10

Q172900 XCLN: Macintosh Client Hangs After Message Color is Changed

Microsoft Outlook for Macintosh, Exchange Server Edition, version 8.0, which ships with Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5, disables these features when running on the Mac OS 8.0 system software.

These problems occur due to a change made in Macintosh OS 8.0, not Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft is working closely with Apple to resolve these issues and will post more information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
