In Microsoft Excel 97, when you format a label on a chart, you may receive the following error message:
If you click Details, a message similar to the following appears:
When you click Close, Excel quits.
This problem occurs when you do the following to your chart:
- You apply fill effects to the background of the data labels for an entire series.
- You either select or change the text in a single data label.
- You format the border of that single data label.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Excel 2000.
