PRB: Confirm File Replace for the Msjava.dll File

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows NT 4.0
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 for Windows 95
  • SDK for Java, version 2.0

SYMPTOMS

After the SDK for Java Beta 2 is installed on your computer, when you reinstall Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2 you will receive the following dialog box:

   Confirm File Replace -
   Target C:\Windows\System\msjava.dll

   The target file exists and is newer than the source.

   Overwrite the newer file?

CAUSE

The version of the Msjava.dll file included with the SDK for Java Beta 2 is a different version than the Msjava.dll file included with Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2.

RESOLUTION

To use the Visual J++ debugger with breakpoints, click No to keep the existing file.

MORE INFORMATION

The Msjava.dll file included with Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview 2 is version 4.79.2174. The Msjava.dll file included with the SDK for Java 2.0 Beta 2 is version 4.79.2175. The version of the Msjava.dll file that is included with the SDK for Java Beta 2 allows you to set breakpoints when you run Visual J++ in debugger mode.
