SYMPTOMS

The first time you search the online docs after installing the product or new online content, InfoViewer will perform "Merging Keywords." If you do not have administrator privileges, the information from merging keywords will not be saved and InfoViewer will have to perform this step each time you start MSDN or Developer Studio and then do a search.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This bug has been fixed in Visual Studio 97 Service Pack 2.
