When the default template in Microsoft Word uses page layout view and Microsoft Outlook uses Word as its e-mail editor, the default view in Word changes to normal view.

To work around this problem, do not use Word as the e-mail editor in Outlook. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In Microsoft Outlook, click Options on the Tools menu.
  2. On the E-mail tab, click to clear the "Use Microsoft Word as the e-mail editor" check box, and then click OK.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem has been corrected in Word 2000.
