SYMPTOMS

If you assign a delay to a resource and you then enter actual work values before the delay period, the start date of the task will change.

CAUSE

Microsoft Project will change the start date of the task in order to preserve the amount of the delay for a resource.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.

MORE INFORMATION

If a resource has been assigned a delay, then Microsoft Project will preserve the delay for that resource. If you enter actual work that occurs before the delay period, Microsoft Project will change the start date.
