When you uninstall the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch for Microsoft Outlook 97 (IMEP), while logged onto Microsoft Windows NT without administrative privileges, you may get the following error message:
You cannot uninstall IMEP without administrative privileges.
You must log on with administrative privileges to uninstall IMEP on a computer running Windows NT.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch for Microsoft Outlook 97. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
Steps to Reproduce the Behavior
- On a computer running Outlook with IMEP on Windows NT, log on without administrative privileges.
- In Control Panel, click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
- Continue with the Uninstall Wizard to remove IMEP.
RESULT: You get the error message referenced above.
NOTE: Following the error message above, if you log on as administrator and uninstall IMEP, you may get additional error messages because some files are missing as a result of the previous unsuccessful uninstall.
