If you delete part of a formula while editing it directly in a cell, Microsoft Excel may stop responding (hang).
The problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
- You edit a formula directly in a cell. -and-
- You press DELETE while the insertion point is at the beginning of the formula. -and-
- You make another change to the formula after deleting the equal sign.
To delete part of a formula that begins with the equal sign, edit the formula in the formula bar instead of directly in the cell.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
For more information about editing formulas, click the Index tab in Microsoft Excel Help, type the following text
editing formulas, procedures
and then double-click the selected text to go to the "Edit a formula" topic.
