SUMMARY

MSN Money Investing takes precautions to help you keep your personal information private.

MORE INFORMATION

Your portfolio information is stored on MSN Money servers that can only be accessed with your Microsoft Passport Network account. Therefore, you can access the same data on other computers when you sign in to Portfolio by using the same Passport Network account. There is also a cookie file that stores other information:

  • If you have downloaded the Deluxe controls and other preferences.
  • The Top Ten list that you last looked at.

If you are using the Deluxe Portfolio, a copy of your portfolio data is also stored on your hard disk.

Note You must have Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or a later version on one of the following operation systems to run Deluxe Portfolio:

  • Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
  • Microsoft Windows 2000
  • Microsoft Windows XP

We recommend that you back up your portfolio regularly to guard against unexpected loss of data. To learn more, see "Back up your portfolio" in MSN Money Help.

Online trading

The security of the online trading area is the responsibility of each broker. MSN Money Investing does not link to any broker without using SSL encryption or an equivalent. This helps make sure that the trades that you place are not sent over the Internet unencrypted.
