In Microsoft Excel 97, when you click a menu item that starts a wizard or a function built into an add-in, you may receive one of the following error messages:
Save as HTML, Conditional Sum, or Lookup
These problems occur if a control is active in the worksheet when you click a menu item that starts any of the wizards or functions listed in this article.
To prevent these problems from occurring, select a cell or a range in the worksheet before you click a menu item that starts any of the wizards or functions listed in this article.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
Certain wizards and functions that require that a cell or a range of cells be selected do not work correctly if a control, such as a command button, an option button, a check box, or a list box, is active in the worksheet when you use them.
Wizards and functions not listed in this article do not require that a cell or a range of cells be selected. Therefore, the problems described in this article do not occur when you use those wizards or functions. For example, the File Conversion Wizard and the Web Form Wizard work correctly even when a control is active.
