FP97: Error Installing FP to Dell Computer using Windows NT 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft FrontPage 97 for Windows, you receive the following error:

   Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)
 

The error occurs when Setup is approximately 96 percent complete, while Setup is attempting to add shortcuts to the Start menu. The error occurs on some Dell computers on which Microsoft Windows NT Workstation, version 4.0, is preinstalled.

RESOLUTION

Dell Computer Corporation has posted a fix which you can download from their World Wide Web site:

   www.dell.com/filelib/31be.htm.
