If you are creating a new File DSN in the Create New Data Source dialog box, you may receive either of the following error messages:
You may receive the first error message if you are trying to create a data source that has a name greater than or equal to 216 characters.
You may receive the second error message if you are trying to create a data source that has a name greater than or equal to 208 characters, but less than or equal to 215 characters.
To prevent these error messages from occurring, use a name that is less than or equal to 207 characters when creating a data source in the Create New Data Source dialog box.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
