CRS: Not Replicating ACL When Broker Is Disabled

Article ID: 168860

Article Last Modified on 10/24/2003

  • Microsoft Commercial Internet System 1.0 Service Pack 2
  • Microsoft Content Replication System

This article was previously published under Q168860

When you replicate access control lists (ACLs) with the Membership (MBS) Broker service disabled, files are replicated, but the ACL on the directory and files at the end point are reset to a default of Everyone, Full Control. There is no error indication of failure in ACL replication.

The Microsoft Content Replication System (CRS) does not abort when it cannot initialize the MBS source or destination.

To work around this problem, enable the Membership Broker service and try to do the CRS replication again.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System, version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
