Game Device Profiler Causes GP Fault When Quitting

The information in this article applies to:


  • Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro, version 1.0
  • Microsoft SideWinder game pad, version 1.0
  • Microsoft SideWinder Game Device software version 1.5





SYMPTOMS

When you click the Close button in Game Device Profiler, you may receive the following error message:

Profiler caused a general protection fault in module GDI.EXE



CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you have Diamond InControl Tools version 4.03.095 or earlier running in the background on your computer.



RESOLUTION

Use the Exit command on the File menu instead of the Close button to quit Game Device Profiler.



MORE INFORMATION

Disabling InControl Tools also prevents the error message from occurring. Refer to the Diamond documentation for information about disabling or removing InControl Tools, or call Diamond Technical Support at (408) 325- 7000.

This behavior does not occur in Windows CE version 2.0.
