WD6X: AutoCaption Left Behind When Its Object Is Moved |
Q106368
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, versions 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.1a
SYMPTOMS
When you move an item with a caption created with the AutoCaption feature using either the cut and paste method or the drag-and-drop feature, a new caption is created for it, and the old caption is left in the previous location of the captioned item.
CAUSE
The caption is not attached to the item it is captioning. Word creates a new caption when an item is moved so that new captions are created when items are drag-and-dropped between documents.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, select the caption along with the captioned item before moving it.
