XL5: Unable to Resize Spinner Control to Desired Height

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 5.0
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 5.0

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel version 5.0, the height of a spinner control must be an even number of pixels (20, 44, 76, etc.). Because of this limitation, you may not be able to to resize a spinner control to a specific height.

MORE INFORMATION

Spinner controls resemble scroll bars: they have an up arrow component and a down arrow component. They are often used to raise or lower a value by clicking the arrows.

If you want a spinner control to exactly fill a cell on a worksheet, the spinner control may not quite fit the cell or it may extend slightly beyond the boundaries of the cell, depending on the vertical height of the cell. Since there is no direct method to determine the height in pixels of a spinner control or of a cell, you may have to resize the spinner control or the cell manually.
