Publisher Envelope PageWizard Prints Incorrectly to BJ-200

SYMPTOMS
========
The Canon BJ-200 and some similar printers print the results of the
Envelope PageWizard incorrectly. You may experience paper feeds and
landscape or fragmented output. Switching to other drivers or other
printer emulations doesn't help.
This behavior has been observed on the Canon Bubble-Jet 200 when
using the following drivers: Canon BJ-200, IBM ProPrinter X24e,
BJ-10ex, and the Epson LQ-510. The following are two possible causes of
this behavior:
- When the paper size is Envelope, the printer driver forces a
landscape orientation, which doesn't print correctly.
- When the Envelope paper size isn't available and a custom page size
is set, Publisher puts the short, envelope-sized page in the middle
of the tall, letter-sized page. The result is that the printer feeds
the envelope through before it starts printing.
WORKAROUNDS
===========
Method 1 (Copying to a Letter-Size Page)
----------------------------------------
1. Start Microsoft Publisher.
2. Select and run the Envelope PageWizard design assistant.
3. From the Envelope PageWizard, select the options you want.
4. After the envelope has been created, delete the text box that
says, "Tips for Printing Your Envelope."
5. From the Edit menu, choose Select All.
6. Click the Group button to group the objects.
7. From the Edit menu, choose Copy Objects.
8. From the File menu, choose New.
9. In the dialog box, select Start From Scratch and Full Page. When
prompted to save your changes, choose No.
10. In the new document, from the Edit menu, choose Paste Objects.
11. Drag the group to a position 0.5 inch from the top of the page.
12. Move the paper selection lever (on the printer) to the forward
(envelope) position.
13. Set the green paper thickness lever inside the printer to the
right (envelope) position.
14. Place the envelope in the sheet feeder: face up and top down.
15. Make sure the printer is online.
16. In Publisher, choose Print Setup from the File menu.
17. Under Orientation, select Portrait. Under Paper, select Letter 8
1/2 x 11 from the Size box, and select Manual Feed from the Source
box.
18. From the File menu, choose Print. Choose OK.
19. When prompted to insert paper, choose OK.
Method 2 (Use Control Panel and Don't Look at Printer Setup)

1. Start the Windows Control Panel. Double-click the Printers
icon.
2. Select the BJ-200. Select Setup.
3. Set up the following options on the printer: Portrait, Envelope,
and Manual Feed.
4. Choose OK. Choose Set As Default Printer. Choose Close.
5. Start the Windows Print Manager.
6. From the Options menu, select Background Printing.
7. Choose Display All Warnings, choose OK.
8. Start Microsoft Publisher.
9. Select and run the Envelope PageWizard design assistant.
10. From the Envelope PageWizard, select the options you want.
IMPORTANT: Do not, at any time, choose Print Setup from the File
menu, or from the Page Setup dialog box. If you do, the printer
driver resets orientation to Landscape and won't let you change
back. If this happens, you must run the PageWizard again.
11. Move the paper selection lever (on the printer) to the forward
(envelope) position.
12. Set the green paper thickness lever inside the printer to the
right (envelope) position.
13. Place the envelope in the sheet feeder: face up and top down.
14. Make sure the printer is online.
15. From Publisher's File menu, choose Print, and choose the OK button.
16. When prompted to Insert Paper, choose OK.
