SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel, you cannot directly import a Quattro Pro spreadsheet if it is in the .WQ1 file format or a Symphony file if it is in the .WR1 file format.

To open these files in Microsoft Excel, you must first save them in in Lotus 1-2-3 .WK1 or .WKS file format.

Saving Your File

To save a Quattro Pro file in the .WK1 or .WKS file format:

  1. In Quattro Pro, open the file you want to be able to open in Microsoft Excel.
  2. From the File menu, choose Save As.
  3. Type the name of your file and use either the .WK1 or .WKS filename extension (you can also save the file in the .SLK or .DBF format).

To save a Lotus Symphony file in the .WK1 or .WKS file format:

  1. In Lotus 1-2-3, open the file you want to be able to open in Microsoft Excel.
  2. Press the F9 key to recalculate the worksheet.
  3. Choose File Save.
  4. Type the full pathname of the directory you want to save to followed by the filename and the .WK1 or .WKS filename extension.

To open the newly saved file in Microsoft Excel:

  1. From the File menu, choose Open.
  2. Change to the directory containing the file you want to open.
  3. In the File Name box, type “.wk” (without the quotation marks), or choose Lotus 1-2-3 from the List Files Of Type Box, to locate your file.
  4. Select the file from the File Name box and choose the OK button.
