Excel: Gridlines Cleared in Display Options But Not Page Setup
Last reviewed: September 12, 1996
Article ID: Q103781
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 3.0, 4.0, and 4.0a
- Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 3.0, 4.0
The note on page 531 of the version 4.0 "User's Guide 1," states that when turn off gridlines by choosing Options from the Display menu and clearing the Gridlines check box, Microsoft Excel also clears the Gridlines check box in the Page Setup dialog box so the gridlines will not be printed. Similar notes occur on page 530 of the version 3.0 "User's Guide" for Windows and page 528 of the version 3.0 "User's Guide" for the Macintosh.
This information is not entirely correct. If the Cell Gridlines check box in the Page Setup dialog box has been cleared and reselected, removing gridlines from your screen by choosing Display from the Options menu and clearing the Gridlines check box in the Display Options dialog box will not clear the Gridlines check box in the Page Setup dialog box.
