System 7.1 Date Format Causes Type 1 Error w/Glossary Entry
PSS ID Number: Q102639 Article last modified on 03-07-1997
====================================================================== 5.10 MACINTOSH kbenv buglist5.10 fixlist6.00 ——————————————————————– The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 5.1
- == Apple Macintosh System 7.1 ==
If you change the date format in the System 7.1 Date & Time Control Panel to a Year/Month/Day format, Word may hang (stop responding) or quit when you try to open an existing document. This problem can occur if the document being opened contains a date glossary formatted for the standard Month/Day/Year. A typical error message when this occurs is:
The application “Word 5.1” has unexpectedly quit, because of an error type 1 occurred.
The same error may also occur when you insert “Print Day of Month” in a document from the Edit Glossary dialog box. After you select “Print Day of Month,” garbled code will appear at the bottom of the dialog box. If you then select the Insert button, Word will react in the same manner as described above.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for the Macintosh version 5.1. This problem was corrected in Word for the Macintosh version 6.0.
