Article ID: 102516

Article Last Modified on 10/31/2006

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server 3.1
  • Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 3.1
  • Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server 3.1

This article was previously published under Q102516

SYMPTOMS

Setup cannot complete copying files to the share.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the administrator attempts to run Setup to a destination share that is the root of a FAT drive on a network machine. Setup requires a subdirectory for a destination, and when the file limit for a root is reached, the copy fails.

RESOLUTION

Always specify the remote share destination to be a subdirectory on the network share. Subdirectories have no limit to the number of files you can create.
