FIX: Visual C/C++ Editor Shows Garbled Text When Scrolling

Q102433

1.00 WINDOWS kbtool kbfixlist kbbuglist kbfasttip ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Visual Workbench for Windows, version 1.0 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ======== An attempt to display a line of text in the Visual Workbench fails and garbled or corrupt text appears when you scroll down the text window with either the PAGE DOWN or the DOWN ARROW key. CAUSE ===== The line of text is exactly 251 characters long. Usually, the Visual Workbench displays a message stating that a line of text is longer than 251 characters and it will be truncated. However, if the line is exactly 251 characters long, Visual Workbench does not display the message and garbled text may appear before or after the particular line when it is in view. RESOLUTION ========== The problem does not change the text itself. If you can find which line causes the problem, you can delete or add one character and the problem should not recur. STATUS ====== Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Visual Workbench version 1.0 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Visual Workbench version 1.5 for Windows. This problem does not occur in Visual Workbench version 1.1, 32-bit Edition. Additional reference words: 1.00 KBCategory: kbtool kbfixlist kbfasttip KBSubcategory: VWBIss
