|- Microsoft C/C++ for MS-DOS, version 7.0|
An attempt to use the Setup program to install C/C++ version 7.0 or any of its associated tools from a diskless workstation (a computer with no hard disk that is connected to a network) fails and Setup indicates that insufficient disk space is available.
The Setup program checks the available disk space on the local hard disk before it prompts for the drive and directory into which to install the compiler or its tools.
Setup does not support installing the compiler to a machine that does not have a local hard disk. According to the system requirements for C/C++ version 7.0, a hard disk “with 20 megabytes or more storage available” is necessary. The only method to work around this restriction involves installing the compiler to another computer and copying the installation to the desired destination computer.
To install C/C++ version 7.0 directory to a network disk, change the destination directory from C: to the network disk. However, Setup checks for available disk space before it prompts for the destination disk. If no hard disk is present, Setup displays an error dialog box and does not allow you to specify a different destination disk drive.
