SUMMARY

This article describes how to use Ami Pro version 3.0 to read and write files in Word for Windows 2.0 document format.

Exporting to Word for Windows 2.0 Format from Ami Pro

1. In Ami Pro version 3.0, open the file you want to convert.

2. From the File menu, choose Save As.

3. Select Word for Windows from the List Files Of Type list.

   NOTE: In the List Files of Type list, the Microsoft Word item stands for for Word for MS-DOS file format, not Word for Windows. If Word for Windows does not appear on the list, that converter is not installed. If you do not have the Word for Windows converter or if you need help installing it, call Ami Pro technical support at

   404. 399-5505.

4. Type a filename and then choose OK.

Importing Word for Windows Documents in Ami Pro

1. In Ami Pro, choose Open from the File menu.

2. Select Word for Windows from the List Files Of Type list.

   NOTE: In the List Files of Type list, the Microsoft Word item stands for for Word for MS-DOS file format, not Word for Windows. If Word for Windows does not appear on the list, that converter is not installed. If you do not have the Word for Windows converter or if you need help installing it, call Ami Pro technical support at

   404. 399-5505.

3. In the File Name box, type "*.doc" (without the quotation marks).

4. Select the Word for Windows document and then choose OK.

According to Ami Pro technical support, Ami Pro version 3.01 contains an updated Word for Windows import/export converter. To obtain the updated version, call Lotus Sales at (800) 343-5414.

According to the “Ami Pro User’s Guide,” on pages 372-373, most Word for Windows character, paragraph, and document formatting options convert except for the following:
